Our Founder

The Order of Steel was begun, strangely enough, was begun by a dwarf named Moran Bitterroot.   He was a miners son, but he felt his life would be better served protecting others.  Against his father's wishes, he started training as a warrior.
After extensive campaigns against the orcs, he had been given the chance to guide caravans along  the trade routes of Kaladim to Kelethin.   After several years, he had earned praise from the caravan merchants, and the hatred of the Butcherblock Orcs.  He was protecting a small caravan, when a company of orcs approached.  The caravan leader along with his merchant guards betrayed Moran.  In exchange for safe passage, the merchant gave the orcs Moran.
Moran spent days being tortured by the orcs.  Upon hearing his cries for help, a group of adventurers set about to free him.  The group lost all but one member.  The survivor was unusual an troll called Melgas.  Melgas tended Moran's wounds, and helped return him to Kaladim.
Moran spent weeks in a rage.  His saviors had died and he had almost lost his life to a group of individuals that did not deserve to be protected.  He resigned his commission as a warrior guide.  He vowed never to throw away his life on a lost cause, and never to waste his efforts on those people who did not deserve it.
After many years adventuring, he found his friend, Melgas, fighting a group of Necromancers and Shadowknights.  Like an avenging angel, Moran fought to protect his friend Melgas.  Moran and Melgas won the day,  alas, Melgas suffered a mortal wound.  Moran kept watch over his dying friend.  Melgas pleaded for Moran to help him one last time.  Moran listened as Melgas told of a heart shaped stone of incredible power.  The stone had been used by Veeshan to create life on Norrath and could be used to destroy it.  Melgas told of others searching for this stone.  Melgas asked Moran to form a group of knights to find the stone and protect it from evil.
Moran asked where he could find the stone. On Melgas last breath, "the heart shaped stone's location is unknown, but legends tell that it is in one of Veeshan's temples."  When Melgas died his body disappeared.  Looking over the site where his friend had died, Moran gave a life vow to find this
stone.

The Foundation of the Order of Steel

Moran founded the Order of Steel.  He charged the Order to  find that Veeshan Temple.  Some searchers of the Stone call us Lords of Steel, because of our unbending will to find the Stone.  Other searchers call us Templars, because we are searching for this Temple.  Many more call us fools, for following a Troll mystic.  But if Melgas was just a mystic, why did  his body disappear, and why were a group of Shadowknights and Necromancers after him?
